Okay, before I start with the college saga, I will pick up where I left off almost a month ago. I wrote about the novel, The Shack, in my last post. I went on and on how awesome it was and how everyone needs to go buy it. -WRONG-. (By the way, don't try to look back because I deleted that part.) The Shack is not really for everyone, in my opinion. If you are not a believer and/or don't know what the Bible says about certain things, then do not read this. Yes, it is certainly a good book and has many good things in it that will make you think. The book tends to personify God as large black woman. The Bible says that God is neither male nor female. Honestly, the book is not meant for people to take literally, just surface level. I shall give it three stars.
Onto to the planet of Morgan Smith! I AM NOW AN OFFICIAL MISSISSIPPI STATE BULLDOG!!! wooo hooo!! I moved in this past Saturday into Critz Residence Hall. Since July, I have been packing. I ,kid you not, literally had twenty boxes packed full of stuff! "MVNU2MSU day," however, was very easy. All we had to do was pull up to the curb by the dorm and the staff unloaded and carried all my belongings to my room. Our room is only 187 square feet. Small? um.. YES. We decided to bunk our beds because of space, which really worked out great! My father brought two shaggy rugs for the room. It sure does help being in the furniture business. It took two or three hours to maneuver all my stuff into the room.
I do not think that I have mentioned my roommate. Her name is Kristen Moore. She is also from McComb. We did not attend the same high school, but we have known each other for quite a long time. Kristen is phenomenal! She is very very smart (majoring in mathematics) and always has a great attitude. I am very lucky to have such an awesome roomie!
Our room is the cutest room in Critz. Yes, I am bragging. Our colors consist of pink, lime green, orange, and yellow. Of course, we still have a few things to sort out. I left my camera at home, so I probably will not have a picture until the next post.
My mother is coming up this weekend on her way home from Tupelo Furniture Market. I cannot seem to stay away from my parents. By the way, the goodbyes to my mother and father went smoothly. I did not cry. Both of my parents did tear up, but there was no sobbing, thank the good Lord in Heaven.
Today, I volunteered to help build a home for a needy family. The organization is Habitat for Humanity sponsored by Service Dawgs. We also did this because of the book, A Painted House by John Grisham. (Not one of Grisham's best From 9-12, twenty fellow students and I nailed, screwed, sawed, and raised a whole wall for this home. The joy of helping people is moving-literally! I also was able to interact and meet new friends. I cannot wait to get more involved!
I also cannot wait to see what else is in store for this week. My classes start a week from today. Nervous? Very much. My major right now is Pre-Business. But I have done a lot of thinking and praying, and I have decided to switch my major to Veterinary Medicine. I have a strong passion for animals. For fifteen years, I have had a pet poodle named Poohbear. He has been my snuggle buddy and best friend. I want to give that opportunity to some other kid. Also, business is just not my thing. I do not want to wake up every morning and hate going to work. The next six to eight years will be hard work but very exciting!:)
Until next time....
Food for thought:
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me. The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.
Psalm 18:2-6
